Benefiting from natural protection against the mainland, the Ionian Islands offer favorable cruising conditions throughout the season. While the Ionian remains delightful year-round, it is especially appealing for chartering in July and August, avoiding the strong Meltemi winds prevalent in the Cyclades during this period.

To explore the Ionian islands by sailing yacht, consider focusing on either the northern or southern islands. Opting for a one-way itinerary or a more extended 10-night charter provides an immersive experience of the entire region. Charter yacht availability may be limited in the Ionian, given the distance from Athens.

For international travel, plan to fly into Preveza (PVK). Domestic flights from Athens to Corfu are an option, but reaching the Southern Ionian involves approximately a 5-hour drive, whether by car rental or hired driver.
